I can't believe it is July already. I feel like I haven't even had a moment to take a breath since school ended. There is an upside to teaching summer school...my classroom is getting set up a little more each day. It certainly is a lot of work to design a functional yet pleasant place for kids to learn.
On June 6, my classroom looked like this...
Basically, it was a pile of stuff on one side of the room as I waited for the other teacher to finish moving out. You never realize how much you have until you have to haul it somewhere. Also, you can never underestimate how long it takes to a deep clean your classroom after a long year.
After a full day on Monday, things started to take shape but I was by no means ready for kids on the following Monday. Thankfully, I had gotten a pretty good start!
My shelf...currently full of anything that will fit on it.
The front of my classroom and my main teaching space.
My "desk" area
My classroom library which needs to be sorted
The corner of shame (aka anything that wouldn't fit on my shelf)
My new favorite part of the room, the writing table!
Student center
Pencil Station and Completed Work Bin
My teacher space
So after some time here and there, this is what my classroom looks like today! I am nowhere near finished, but am definitely making some progress.
One bulletin board down and one to go.
My math corner with a pocket chart covering the chaos that is still on the shelf!
Computers and entrance...there are definitely more projects to be done here.
Writing Table with wall postings from Writing Center Starter Kit by: A Cupcake for the Teacher on TPT!
Sink area
Still trying to get everything put away...
Corner of shame is shrinking!
Word Wall is up! This is one of my favorite projects! I bought 12 x 12 inch paper and used a Cricut cartridge to cut out the letters and then laminated them. Then I just taped them up! Cheap, cute, and functional!
Jobs chart on my cabinets and important times posted.
Alphabet chart and number line above the board.
This is my classroom so far, but I will keep posting about my classroom and projects!
Ashley
